Following a recent article I wrote about living wild in the so much civilized environment that we suffer today, I wanted to specifically focus on an idea that I introduced but did not explore to the very end of it. There are multiple possibilities that we have to escape from the normal living conditions that so many stress and depression problems cause. Two of the most typical ones are living in a campervan, and living in a boat. While I think that the possibility of living in a boat is one that really applies to very few people (even if I know some of them and you they’re very interesting people) the idea of living in a camper should apply to everybody.

The Truth About Holidays at Sea So, you’ve been thinking about booking a cruise for the holidays, but you have a lot of thoughts about what a cruise entails that make you wonder if it’s a good idea. While many people have a lot of pre-conceived misconceptions about cruises, we’re here to knock a number of those out of the water. First, many people believe mainly old people go on cruises. While there is quite an older population that does enjoy cruising, the truth of the matter is that the growing population onboard ships are families who are enjoying the fact that the parents can have a holiday get-away with the kids, since many ships are child friendly and even have special children’s facilities
You should always stop and smell the roses. You can do just that in Retiro Park in Madrid. But that is just the beginning of the magic at the Parque del Buen Retiro. While the park is only 300 acres, not massive for a park, that space is well used to display sculptures and monuments. A number of events for the holidays call the area around the park’s lake home, and this small space has grown from a place just to take a stroll into a not-to-miss attraction in the city.

Hiking can be a great outdoor vacation or adventure, and usually it is not dangerous. But, you are outside and often find yourself far from civilization, and you could get injured or even worse. With that in mind, it is very beneficial to heed some basic safety tips to keep your hiking adventure a pleasant experience. First, do not travel alone. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule. If you are strolling along a well-traveled area, you are probably safe. But, hiking through a thick forested area with canyons and winding trails is a different story. You could easily get lost.
The island of Fuerteventura is part of the Canary islands ( so called as the first settlers discovered many large dogs - canes - inhabiting the island originally, nothing to do with the Canary bird!) The Canary islands are actually an African archipelago but fall under Spanish rule. Herein lies possibly the major attraction of the Canaries, African weather in a politically stable island forming part of the European Union. Fuerteventura is actually the most Eastern of the isles and is closer to Morocco than mainland Spain (only 60 miles from the coast of Morocco). Because of this location the island enjoys over 300 days of beautiful sunshine per year. Even in winter it is rare for average temperature to drop below 18 degrees and during summer months will average over 26 degrees. Lying on the same latitude as Florida and Mexico, Fuerteventura enjoys a similar climate despite being only a 4 hour flight from any UK national or regional airport. perhaps the perfect getaway for Northern Europeans during the winter months, the only other locations offering winter sun with a similar flying time being Egypt and Cyprus.
Have you ever noticed how some of your friends seem to get away on a lot of holidays each year? Maybe they’re just lucky, or maybe they know the secrets to finding cheap airline tickets. Before internet usage became so common, the trick to finding the best deals on flights often involved waiting until the very last moment and then phoning a specialist flight broker. Such brokers were often able to offer extremely competitive last minute deals, allowing you access to cheap prices. They were able to get their hands on cheap tickets because some airlines would find themselves with excess capacity and would look to brokers to fill seats.
One of the first things you’ll notice about the culture in Barcelona, and in Spain in general, is that time is pushed forward. In many cultures, you eat lunch between noon and 1:30; in Barcelona, you eat lunch between 3 and 4. Dinner is often not served until very late, between 10 and 11:30 in the evening; if you’re lucky, you may find eateries opening at 9:30, but that is the very earliest; if you try to eat too early, you will end up stuck in a tourist trap and over-paying. Make sure that you pack light snacks to take with you through the day if you are not used to eating at such times.
